By definition, these tools are synthetic tools. This means that they are run either on a dev machine or a lab, on a specific browser, specific url and connection.&nbsp; The limitation of such systems is that they are not always able to detect and reproduce particular issues happening on the actual real user site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the customers on Gemini recently faced a Core Web Vitals issue, where the Gemini tool detected significant degradation in the Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). Gemini raised Core Web Vital Alerts automatically and also gave preliminary root cause analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"223\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Cls.png\" alt=\"cls\" class=\"wp-image-6092\" style=\"width:537px;height:234px\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Cls.png 512w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Cls-300x131.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This site is an E-commerce site and the Gemini alert algorithm was instantly able to detect which page template faced the issue. In this case, it was the \u2018Product Details Page\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Alert-Mail.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6093\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Alert-Mail.png 512w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Alert-Mail-300x144.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this information, the developers of the E-commerce site started looking at debugging the issue. However they were not able to reproduce the issue. Whenever the Url was run in the Lighthouse of the developer machine, the CLS score appeared in green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"209\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lightHouse-screenshot.png\" alt=\"lighthouse\" class=\"wp-image-6094\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lightHouse-screenshot.png 512w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/lightHouse-screenshot-300x122.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Webpagetest of the some random Product Details Page Url also did not show in the degradation. The team was unable to reproduce the problem yet it was happening for the users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"86\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/webpage-test.png\" alt=\"web page\" class=\"wp-image-6095\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/webpage-test.png 512w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/webpage-test-300x50.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where the Scatter Plot module with the Waterfall view from Gemini tool came to rescue. Gemini captures almost all real user data samples for analysis by the developers. By clicking on the point in the below graph, one is able to check the Core Web Vital conditions of each user condition anonymously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"166\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-webvitals.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6096\" style=\"width:531px;height:172px\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-webvitals.png 512w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-webvitals-300x97.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Picking up a sample which had the CLS , gave all the user parameters which lead to the CLS .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"446\" height=\"347\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-browser-version.png\" alt=\"browser\" class=\"wp-image-6097\" style=\"width:321px;height:250px\"loading  loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-browser-version.png 446w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-browser-version-300x233.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not just the browser and OS version, the user agent and the actual url with various query strings was also captured. It turned out that the E-commerce website was running some campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, where in particular cases the CLS was happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"232\" src=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-har.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6098\" style=\"width:577px;height:261px\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-har.png 512w, https:\/\/www.epsilondelta.co\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/gemini-har-300x136.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Armed with this useful information, the developers were able to reproduce the problem locally and were able to fix it instantly. In this case, the problem was happening on a campaign being served to Facebook and Instagram users. The campaign was triggered in random cases based on the campaign criteria. There was no way for the developers to know about the campaign and the criteria on which it was running.
